Artists Abroad illustrates the world through the eyes of expatriates and their craft— art, music, dance, and other disciplines. The objective is to inspire travel and creative thinking ultimately to cultivate one’s sense of expression that only exists through the creation of art.

Episode 1 – An American in Japan – Daniel Kelly
American painter and printmaker Daniel Kelly recounts how he found success as an artist working and living in Kyoto for over 40 years. Daniel’s work can be found in museums around the world including The British Museum, The Museum of Modern Art, and The Metropolitan Museum. Follow Daniel on his journey from rural Montana, to San Francisco, New York, and Japan whilst learning about the culture, history, and sights of Kyoto.

RICHARD LINDSAY or THE WHALE

Richard Lindsay or The Whale is the story of a passive English teacher unable to cope with the aftermath of a traumatic childhood event. Richards becomes entangled in an escalating conflict with a narcissistic teenager, who also happens to be the daughter of the principal.

The film was shot on location in Cobourg, Port Hope, and Peterborough, Ontario with the help of a small dedicated crew and a group of talented actors from the region. It has recently wrapped post-production and is being submitted to local, regional, and international festivals. Stay tuned for more information regarding the film’s international and Canadian premieres.
